Combine Events Mark Start of Alliance Open Player Signings

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – July 2, 2018 – The Alliance of American Football today announced The Alliance Scouting Combine, three weekend events to be held throughout the month of August, beginning on the 4th at Whittier College in Los Angeles. Developed in partnership with Austin Media Group, these Combine events are the first opportunity for aspiring players to put their skills on display in front of Alliance coaches, general managers and other front office personnel, marking the start of Alliance open player signings. The remaining Alliance Scouting Combine events will be held in Houston (August 18) and Atlanta (August 25-26). Teams will hold additional group and individual tryouts in their respective markets this fall.

“The Alliance is an opportunity for players looking to begin, extend and/or revive their professional careers, and this is the first step of that journey,” said Troy Polamalu, head of player relations, The Alliance. “We are committed to finding the best talent available and providing them with the necessary resources to flourish both on and off the field. We’re building something special and I looking forward to seeing who wants to be a part of it.”

The Alliance Scouting Combine will be conducted by Austin Media Group and is open to players with college and/or professional football experience. Austin Media Group’s standard registration fee of $175 will apply for all entrants, with players signed to The Alliance being fully reimbursed. The company was founded by Stephen Austin, a former NFL executive and founder of the NFL Regional and Super Regional Combines. Austin owned and operated ELITE Football Combines from 1990 until its purchase by the NFL in 2009. He served as director of operations for NFL Combine Properties from 2010 until 2016, and his Combines have tested a total of more than 60,000 pro football prospects.

“I’ve been in the business of providing players opportunities to pursue their professional football dreams for nearly 30 years. The success stories I’ve come across over that time is what continues to fuel this passion of mine,” said Stephen Austin, founder, Austin Media Group. “Directing the Alliance Scouting Combine is an honor and privilege because Charlie Ebersol, Bill Polian, Troy Polamalu and countless others within the organization share my passion for players and the game. This is their time to shine, a great performance can change their lives!”

The Alliance Scouting Combine will feature the 40-yard dash, broad jump, three-cone drill and various position specific tests. For further information or to register, visit http://combine.aaf.com.
