SAN ANTONIO – The Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football announced today that 17-year NFL coaching veteran Kevin Coyle has been named head coach of the team.
“I appreciate this opportunity that The Alliance has given me to work with our 75 players as head coach and prepare them for the upcoming season,” said Coyle, who replaces Brad Childress. “I have learned a lot from Brad and I am thankful for his support in this journey. I look forward to putting together a team that Atlanta can be proud to support and bring the city a championship.”
J.K. McKay, Head of Football Operations for The Alliance, thanked Childress for his contributions to the team.
“Coach Childress has stepped away from his role as head coach of the Atlanta Legends. We are grateful for his leadership, contribution to building The Alliance, and wish him well in his next endeavor.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Kevin Coyle to lead the Atlanta Legends as they work toward the season opener on February 9,” McKay said. “Kevin is an experienced, confident coach who has build a well-respected coaching resume over the years and is ready to take charge of the Legends.”
Coyle’s coaching resume includes stops with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he coached defensive backs, and the Miami Dolphins, where he served as defensive coordinator. Coyle was a defensive analyst at LSU for the 2018 season, before joining the Legends.
